We’re seeking a skilled and motivated Renewable Energy Project Developer to join our team and help accelerate our mission of sustainable growth in the renewable energy sector across the African continent.
Position Summary:
The Renewable Energy Project Developer will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and developing renewable energy projects (solar, wind, hydro, and biomass) across various African regions. The successful candidate will manage the full project lifecycle, from initial feasibility studies, to identifying land, conducting technical studies, local engagement, permitting to deal structuring and securing financing.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Identification and Feasibility Analysis
Identify and assess potential renewable energy project sites and opportunities in targeted African regions.
Conduct feasibility studies, including resource assessments, site evaluations, and preliminary financial modeling.
Analyze regulatory, tax, environmental, and social factors to determine project viability.
Permitting and Regulatory Compliance
Obtain required permits and ensure project compliance with local and national regulations.
Work closely with regulatory bodies, government agencies, and local authorities to align project goals with regulatory frameworks.
Coordinate Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA) in compliance with international standards.
Financial Modeling and Business Case Development
Build detailed financial models to evaluate project economics and determine financial feasibility.
Prepare investment proposals and secure project financing through partnerships, grants, and loans.
Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management
Build strong relationships with local communities, government agencies, investors, and industry partners.
Conduct stakeholder consultations and secure local support to ensure smooth project implementation.
Engage with stakeholders to address concerns and foster positive community impact.
Project Management and Execution
Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Manage a wide range of local and international contractors (e.g., geotech, grid study, topographical, hydrology, wind, etc), structuring their scopes of work and keeping them on task, ensuring deliverables are of highest quality and efficiently delivered.
Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) teams to manage project execution.
Monitor project milestones, address issues, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Market and Policy Analysis
Stay up-to-date on renewable energy policies, incentives, and market trends in Africa.
Provide strategic insights on market dynamics to identify new business opportunities.
Advocate for policies that promote renewable energy adoption and sustainable growth.
